The other weekend, we packed up the canoe and supplies and headed to Long Pond. We’ve been here before and blogged about it 5 years ago: Long Pond. Alden didn’t remember and now revisiting the older blog post, we realize how young he was!

The pond was busy with boaters, anglers, and picnickers. We loaded up our boat and drifted off onto this appropriately named, long pond. The pond is also dotted with many islands and we immediately started exploring onto land whenever we could.

Taking a clockwise route, we explored the coves and found small schools of fish, salamanders, loons, and kingfishers. On the islands we found deer scat and possible moose prints among the low bush blueberry and lichen. But our most special wildlife sighting was a mink!

Cool, but what about the small gorilla behind and to the left of the mink?
What? Haha! I didn’t notice that!
I saw it too and at first thought it was a bear! Just part of the tree! Looks like a good day!
