A couple of days ago we headed outside in our own backyard for an exciting adventure.

We traversed the softwood swamp and made our way out to a newly discovered stream. The water here had flooded and froze and flooded and froze over the past couple of weeks creating a fun ice skating rink and trails.

After slipping and sliding for a while we headed toward the “tree tunnel” for our winter picnic. We hung some treats for the squirrels and birds, and sipped hot cocoa with marshmallows.

Then back through the woods and home again. We hope everyone has a joyful new year!
